Calling all 4th-8th grade actors & actresses! This semester, Heather Roberts, our Drama teacher, is offering an advanced drama class, Drama II, for those students who really love drama and are interested in refining their acting skills and receiving major roles in the play. This additional practice time is helpful to students wanting rolls in the play since Drama I is only 30 minutes and is focused on the entire class, thus limiting the opportunity for individual practice. This class will be offered Wednesday in place of Art. Students must be able to attend dress rehearsal May 18th, 2018 10 am to 12 pm as well as production May 19th 4pm to 6pm to participate in play. Please click here to add this class.

(We let them know earlier in the month and many of them have already been coordinating their outfits;) Also we will be having an ICE CREAM party in one of their classes. (We will have a lactose free option available as well). We will be sending home all their artwork from the semester as well. If your child will not be there, please contact us at [email protected] to let us know how we can get your child's art to you. Please, help me say thank you to all of our teachers who have poured so much into our kids this year! We appreciate all they do! All donations will go towards the purchase and installation of key-less entry locks for our doors to increase our level of security. For Wednesday STEM Class we made flashlights. There is an exposed copper wire, to complete the circuit the students will need to push down on the wire and connect it with the battery. It is harmless for them to do so, however the wire is a little pokey. The students were instructed to complete the project at home by wrapping it in the plane sheet of white paper that covers the wire. See a video how to do it here:

Help us help you! Join the remind app by clicking this link on your phone and following the instructions. Our goal is to have all our families on remind so we can quickly text important messages as needed. We understand that life happens and sometimes it may not be possible for you to get on the internet to check announcements. So while posting announcements here is still our primary mode of communication, we are working to get everyone text enabled so you won't miss out on an important notice or a last minute change if ever you found yourself in that situation.*

*Please note text message communications will not include everything that will be listed here in the announcements or in the portal, and thus it is still necessary for parent's to check announcements weekly.

Attention Parents of K-1st students

It has been brought to my attention that a case of pin worms has been discovered in a child who is in our k-1st class. Pin worms are highly common in children and are pretty harmless overall, however they are highly contagious and often don't cause any symptoms. If you have a child in this class you may want to schedule them a check up or simply do the treatment as a preventative measure. There are over the counter remedies you can use safely, and here are a few home remedies that work also:

  • Raw garlic.
  • Coconut oil.
  • Raw carrots.
  • Essential Oils- Tea Tree and Clove oils

Reminder: As stated in our policies, please look at the announcements on the day of an event to make sure you're updated of any changes. Because the portal is the fastest and most efficient mode of communication with our families at this time, it is the first place to look concerning important updates, though we do also try to get out the message in as many ways possible. Also please remember completing the appropriate form is required for all field trips and account changes.

It pays to stay informed!

It is critically important that all parents stay updated with the announcements. Please read the announcements Sunday & Tuesday Night so your child can be prepared for the school day. In order to make reading the announcements a little more fun, we are now starting a new "Announcement Game". Here's how it works. Look for clues in the announcements by writing down any bold words. The words will only remain bold Sunday through Tuesday. At the end of the month submit the bold words via the provided form. The first to submit correctly earns a prize. (Starts sept 16th, "Posted" and the date do not count towards the Bold words)

Creative Writing - Wednesdays 10am - 11am

It's not too late to join our one of a kind writing class where students will learn the ins and outs of creative writing by published author Meara Kelly. At the end of this course, each student will receive a published book with their work.

Class Description: The writing class will include a step-by-step guide to unlocking children’s imaginations so they can see how their creativity can be used wherever they find themselves. The first part of this class will consist of a poetry section. This will include understanding the structure of poems, recognizing how literary devices can be used in poetry and studying rhyme. The second part of this class will be creative writing. The focus will be learning how to create an engaging story that causes the reader to want to turn the next page to find out what happens. This will be done through learning how to develop a plot, understanding the importance of conflict, climax and conclusion and experiencing the development of characters in a story. Each class will have a short lesson and an activity to reinforce what has been taught. Most importantly, this class will show the joy that can come through writing poems and stories!
